Fishing News on Hatteras Island

Surrounded by water and in close proximity to the Gulf Stream, Hatteras Island emanates a life rich in fish culture. Some islanders fish for a living, some islanders fish for fun, some islanders sell fish in their restaurants and some islanders prepare bountiful fish-rich meals for their families. One thing is for sure, the various Hatteras Island fisheries have an impact on those who are blessed to call this place their home and we love sharing them with our friends and neighbors. Longer Days Offshore Fishing Charters Teach's Lair

Offshore fishing has been mixed over the last few days. We had cancellations due to swells from hurricane Henri. Fishable days brought in mixed bags of Dolphin, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Barracuda, and varieties of bottom fish.

Offshore fishing picked back up again on Thursday with boats bringing in catches of Wahoo, some Dolphin and Tuna, and Tilefish. One of our boats also had a Sailfish release!

Inshore boats had limits of Speckled Trout, some nice Red Drum, Bluefish, and Spanish Mackerel.

We saw a few catches of Dolphin and bottom fish on Wednesday but overall, offshore fishing was very slow.
