Fishing News on Hatteras Island

Surrounded by water and in close proximity to the Gulf Stream, Hatteras Island emanates a life rich in fish culture. Some islanders fish for a living, some islanders fish for fun, some islanders sell fish in their restaurants and some islanders prepare bountiful fish-rich meals for their families. One thing is for sure, the various Hatteras Island fisheries have an impact on those who are blessed to call this place their home and we love sharing them with our friends and neighbors. Dunn Deal Offshore Sportfishing Hatteras, NC

We saw some great catches on Sunday! Offshore boats had good catches of bailer Dolphin, a few Blackfin Tuna, Yellowfin, several nice Wahoo, Barracuda, Triggerfish, and Beeliners.

Inshore boats had plenty of puppy drum and Speckled Trout, with a few Bluefish scattered in.

Saturday brought in some decent catches for offshore boats, with a mix of bailer and gaffer Dolphin, a few Blackfin Tuna, and some very nice Wahoo.

Inshore boats did well with Red Drum and Speckled Trout. They also had some Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel in the mix.

Offshore boats were at the dock again yesterday and today as swells from Hurricane Larry pass off the coast.

Inshore boats did get out and caught some very nice Red Drum with several boats getting their limits. We also saw good Speckled Trout and Bluefish catches.

Not much to report for offshore boats over the last few days as they've been held to the dock due to weather.

Inshore boats still managed to get out and had nice Red Drum catches, along with Bluefish and Speckled Trout.

Fishing picked up slightly for offshore boats over the last few days with catches of Wahoo, Dolphin, Blackfin and Yellowfin Tuna, and various bottom fish. We also had several billfish releases, adding in some more excitement (and work) for our anglers!

We saw a bit of a pickup in offshore fishing on Thursday with boats bringing in catches of Dolphin and Wahoo, and we're starting to see more regular catches of Yellowfin Tuna again. We also had a small Blue Marlin release.
