Fishing News on Hatteras Island

Surrounded by water and in close proximity to the Gulf Stream, Hatteras Island emanates a life rich in fish culture. Some islanders fish for a living, some islanders fish for fun, some islanders sell fish in their restaurants and some islanders prepare bountiful fish-rich meals for their families. One thing is for sure, the various Hatteras Island fisheries have an impact on those who are blessed to call this place their home and we love sharing them with our friends and neighbors. While the docks are always abuzz with fishing action, sharing with you is exactly what we aim to do. Tougher conditions yesterday, but there were some fish to be had by those who went.  Only a few boats went offshore and they had good dolphin fishing. The billfishing continues to be good with shot's to be had if you are looking.

Inshore there were some trout and sheepshead, no one made...

We had a nice weekend with a few rain showers ... but the fishin was good. Lots of pompano and Sea Mullet were caught and a lot were Citations .... plenty of Spanish and Blues around the point, on 43 and...

Offshore the Dolphin fishing has been really good with the bailers showing up and gaffers still around.  There has been a good Blue Marlin bite the past number of days if you go looking as well as some Sailfish around and White Marlins too.  The bottom fishing they have had good Trigger fishing...

Challenging conditions yesterday, but the fish did cooperate for those who were able to make it.  Good Dolphin yesterday.  Carolina Girl had a Blue Marlin that got tail wrapped during the fight and died so they brought it in to weigh. 426 pounds 110 inches long.  

Inshore in the morning...

Offshore fishing the predominate catch continues to be Dolphin with some scattered small Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo and a few Billfish around.  

Inshore in the sound the Speckled Trout fishing has been RED HOT...a lot of small ones, but the keepers...

Well after a slow day a few days ago offshore...the ocean has come ALIVE!!!  The Gaffer Dolphin Fishing has been really good the past two days! We have had a few Citation Dolphins.  There was some good Blackfin Tuna fishing too!  Yesterday the Marlin Mania released a nice Blue Marlin. The guys...

The nearshore fishing is on fire.  There have been many big Cobia around that have been taken both sightcasting as well as chumming and bait fishing for them the past couple days. A lot of fish over the 60 pound mark!  The Spanish Mackeral fishing continues to get better, with some great reports...

Fishing on the Sea Dream at Hatteras Landing Marina

Fish were biting last week and Captain Charlie Fleetwood and the team aboard the Sea Dream were hauling them in! A great time was had by all and delicious meals were enjoyed by many! Fish on!
