May 1 There's somethings in the water!
Good Morning! What a beautiful morning we have yet again, thankfully. Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous here on the sandbar with lots of hungry fish. The big news around here was the Cobia action. Right many fish were seen yesterday and the guys had some good action with the hungry ones. There were 4 caught out at the point of the surf as well. We did weight one yesterday that was 83 pounds. While the guys were motoring around there were some schools of Big Black Drum that they were able to pull on as well as some Big Drum (Channel Bass). Bluefish were everywhere in some spots it looked like a sea of them. I was paddling around in the hook off the point yesterday and at times you did not want to fall in the water there were so many! Spanish have shown up for the boats. We will have them in the shop available for Trolling baits offshore for the Hatteras Village Offshore Open (May 14-18). There have been some Blue Marlin seen out there. They guys offshore had a mixed bag of fishing yesterday. They had Blackfin Tuna, Dolphins, and Wahoo. Some of the guys beat the bottom and found some nice Golden Tilefish deep dropping, as well as having Triggerfish and Vermillion Snappers. The fish are here and they are always hungry. An old timer has always told me "I guarantee you won't catch them without a bait in the water." Come on and come wet a line. We have everything you should need to enjoy a day or week of fishing from surf to offshore!
